I am “reading” two books.  One is the audiobook The Pursuit of God by AW Tozier.  The other is The Applause of Heaven by Max Lucado.  They are both saying the same thing.  They are both speaking of a deeper relationship with God.  I was once that person who went to church every Sunday morning and evening and Wednesday night.  But inwardly I was still dying.  I believed in God and Jesus but my life was not was not a free, abundant, joyful life.  And you’re suppose to.  Do you believe that?  Are are you just holding on til heaven.  Or have the decided that if my house burned down and my kids were ill and someone ran over my dog, yet will I praise him. In this world you will have trouble, but Jesus has overcome the world.  If you need peace and joy it’s in Jesus.  If you have Jesus, but no peace and joy, why?  Don’t stop searching for either til you find it.
