Naaman II Kings 5:1-19

Short Story Shorter:

Naaman commander in the Syrian King’s army.  Wife’s Israelite slave told her of a prophet that could heal Naaman of leprosy.  Syrian king sent Israel’s king a letter asking for healing. Israel’s king says “who do I look like God?  He’s trying to stir up something”  Elisha the prophet said, “I got this or rather God’s got this”.  Naaman goes to Elisha and he says dip 7 times in the Jordan and you’re good.  Naaman is ticked off.  In the Jordan?  We have rivers at home.  Where’s the hand raising and crying out to God? Naaman’s  servant said, If Elisha had asked something hard you would have done it.  Good point.  He washed in the Jordan and guess what…?  He was healed. Naaman asked for soil to take home for “Indeed, now I know there is no God in all the earth, except in Israel.  He vowed to worship only the Lord.

The answer didn’t make any sense.  The water couldn’t have held any more power that of any other river.  What healed Naaman was God.  However he could not have been healed without a seeking heart.  He could not have been healed without the willingness to submit to the dip in the Jordan.  He could not have been healed without his faith that the prophet was from God and had the answer.  He could not have been healed without a willingness to accept the counsel of his servant.

Are you still waiting for your healing?

Are you seeking God with all your heart? Are you willing to submit to His plans for you? Have you put your faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus our Messiah? Are you willing to accept wise counsel from whoever God sends your way?

God is ready to heal.

ARE YOU READY TO BE HEALED?
