A Father’s love–a glimpse of Heaven

Who is most responsible for where you are spiritually?  It could be the person that pointed you toward Christ or the person/place/thing/event that turned you away from Christianity.

There were circumstances that could have caused me to have anger towards God or could have caused me not to believe there was a God.  But fortunately there many more people/places/things/events that showed me that God was real.  It was the one thing I never doubted.

Who I thought God was is another story completely.  I thought God was sitting in Heaven like a great policeman in the sky looking down to catch us doing wrong.  That’s the only time He would have reason to contact you.  He made you feel guilt every time you sinned and put you on the naughty list until you straightened up.  Other than that He was kinda just there.  As long as you were rocking along, He wouldn’t mess with you.  And that was a good thing.

Robert Warner taught me different.  He taught me many lesson.  Many of these lessons he never got to see that I’d learned. He taught me that all men weren’t bad.  He taught me the unconditional, unbreakable love of a father.  He counseled me but didn’t try to shove lessons down my throat.  He let me make my mistakes and was there when I realized my error.  Never with “I told you so” or disdain.  Just love.  Relationship unchanged.  I was raised by awesome women, but sometimes a girl needs a Daddy.

That’s God.  Our Father.  Our Confidant. Our Doctor.  Our Boo-boo Kisser.  Our Teacher.  Our Protector.  Our Guardian.  Our Biggest Fan. The One we want to please the most and also fail the most.  The One whose love we can not earn and therefore can not lose. A parent’s love.

I love hearing from you. Your comments and/or questions are welcomed and appreciated.
