I often think about the reality of being a child of God. I think Americans struggle with the idea of God being King. I think those who were raised in a monarchy would understand the relationship between King and subject and King and royal heir much better than we do.
I feel as God’s children, princes and princesses, in public we give God the reverence and honor and respect that He deserves. We don’t do anything that would bring shame on the King because He is both our Father and our King. Any disrespect we show the King diminishes Him in the eyes of the subjects.
In private, we give God the reverence, honor, and respect He is due. However, just as in earthly royal families, in the inner chambers a we may use Dad instead of Your Majesty. We may make note of something we felt was unfair. A child can sit in their Father’s lap and receive a hug after a bad day; or express any emotion to Him. We can do this with full assurance of our Father’s love.
Let’s approach God our Father this way. We are children of the Most High God. Be blessed.
