My Point of View of the Confederate Flag.

unity

My first thought is that we have so many more important issues to march about. There are inequalities that exist today that divide us. March and tell those in power that we have to do something about homelessness, wage disparities, school dropout rates, teen pregnancy, domestic violence and communities that are caught in a cycle of poverty and violence. What if we marched and these issues were as quickly resolved? As quickly as a flag was removed.

one nation under GodMy second thought is that, while the Confederate Flag indeed represents a period of this country’s history, should it be displayed in a place of honor? It’s disingenuous to make an argument that the flag is not related to slavery. It’s as valid as saying the Nazi flag has nothing to do with the Holocaust.

History happens. We should hold firm to the lessons learned. Let us use those lessons to become a country of One Nation under God. Let us be our brother’s keeper. Let us love our neighbors as ourselves. Let us pray for peace. Let us not grow weary of doing good. Let us stand firm on God’s truths.
