I use to think that being fearless was the complete absence of fear. That if I really trusted God, I would not be afraid.
If I was imminently going to be hit by a car/train/bullet, I would feel fear. Even knowing I would see Jesus, my immediate emotion would be fear. Fear of pain. Fear of the dying “experience” . (Aren’t you glad we only have to do that one once?…maybe once..unless Jesus returns soon)
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12
What do you struggle with? It can be anything. Fear. Anxiety. Depression. Greed. Lust. Pride, Addiction, Worry, Selfishness. Low self-esteem. Your sibling. Your spouse. Your Children.
Since the Garden of Eden, Satan’s ploy has been to undermine our confidence in God. And he will use everything in his arsenal to do it. The serpent told Eve, “Did God really say you would surely die?” I know God created you and provides you with all your needs and has but one rule, but is He holding out on you?
Have you ever thought any of these things?
The God/Jesus/The Bible says this is wrong, but I really want it/feel it/need it. I’m all alone. Nothing is ever going to get any better. I’ll never have/be/do fill in the blank…
These are all lies that Satan uses to try to pull us away from God or make us ineffective. To believe these and other lies is to believe that God is the liar.
Romans 3:4 says let God be true, and every man a liar. I submit that it’s “Let God be true” and every thought, every impulse, every whisper and every fear be a liar.
How do we fight this war against principalities and spiritual wickedness? Ephesians 6:14-18 tells us how.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having pu
t on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
So whether you’re battling fear or your battle is patience with the Wal-Mart customers, get dressed every morning–ready for war.
Be Blessed
