I don’t need to be convinced about the existence of God for a number of reasons but here is one.

One day these words kept going through my head..
“If you can keep you head about you when all about you are losing theirs, you’ll be a man, my son”

Didn’t know where it came from.

Then I heard that Grandmother passed away. My husband was taking me to her house where my mother was. The closer I got the more agitated I became. By the time we arrive, I was almost hysterical and wouldn’t get out of the car.

Then these words came back to me.
“If you can keep you head about you when all about you are losing theirs, you’ll be a man, my son”

And at that moment I realized that it wasn’t about me. My mother and my aunt would be more devastated than me. Someone would have to have a clear head and keep it together. So at that very second, I took a deep breath and opened the car door.

All day that verse was in my head. All day and from the beginning of creation, God knew that I would need that verse on that day.

 

I don’t know where I heard this poem from. Probably some literature class with Ms. Strickland or Ms. McCarter. I don’t know why I only knew the first and last lines of the poem. But God knew that on that November afternoon, I would need it.

That’s why I don’t have to convinced about the presence and love of God. That why no matter how many people try to disprove his existence, I will never be dissuaded. I have seen with my own experience, God. And once you have seen the power of God, you will never be dissuaded either.
